Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of trusttraffic.net, the TrustTraffic dashboard, and the @trusttraffic/tracker package (together, the “Service”), operated by TrustTraffic (“we,” “us”). By creating an account or installing the tracker, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

1. The Service

TrustTraffic detects AI-crawler traffic to websites and reports it in a dashboard, and on paid plans checks whether AI answer engines cite your site. The Service is young and still evolving: features may change or be replaced, and individual answer engines can be temporarily unavailable when a provider has an outage. We give notice of material changes and don’t charge you for checks that don’t return a usable result.

2. Accounts

You sign in with an email address and password, or with your Google account. Password recovery goes to that email address, so anyone with access to the inbox can regain access to the account — keep it secure, don’t use an email you don’t control, and tell us at hello@trusttraffic.net if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization. You’re responsible for activity that occurs through your account.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Circumvent, probe, or overload rate limits or other abuse protections
• Use the robots.txt checker to target, scan, or disrupt sites you don’t have permission to test
• Install the tracker on a site you don’t own or have authorization to instrument
• Share, sell, or resell your account, tracker tokens, or citation-check allowance
• Reverse-engineer the Service to circumvent metering, gating, or usage limits
• Use the Service for anything unlawful, or that infringes anyone else’s rights

4. Your site data

You own the traffic data your installed tracker sends us. You grant us a license to process, store, and display it back to you as part of the Service. You’re responsible for having the right to install the tracker on any site you connect, and for your own site’s compliance with laws that apply to you — including telling your own users about your use of third-party tools, if your jurisdiction requires that. As explained in our Privacy Policy, the tracker only reports requests identified as AI crawlers; it does not collect personal data about your site’s human visitors unless you explicitly opt in to the aggregate human-count feature, which itself stores no per-visitor data.

4a. Data processing

Where the data your tracker sends us is personal data under the GDPR or UK GDPR, you are the controller and we are your processor. We process it only to provide the Service and on your documented instructions (your use of the dashboard and its settings); we keep it confidential; we use the sub-processors listed in our Privacy Policy and will tell you before adding another; we help you with data-subject requests and security incidents as far as we reasonably can; and we delete the data when you delete the site or your account. Tell us at hello@trusttraffic.net if you need these terms as a separate signed agreement.

5. Plans, tokens and fees

Crawler tracking is free. Citation checks are a paid feature metered in tokens: each plan includes an allowance (shown on our pricing page), each check of one query on one engine costs that engine’s token price, and a check is only charged when it returns a usable result. Your allowance resets every month on the day of the month your current plan started, whether you pay monthly or annually, and unused tokens don’t roll over. A check that the engine answers is charged even when the answer is “your site isn’t cited” — that is a result. Checks that fail, time out, or come back unreadable are never charged.

Subscriptions renew automatically. Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or annually as you chose at checkout, and renew for the same period at the same price until you cancel. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details. Prices are shown in US dollars and exclude VAT or sales tax; where we have to charge it, Stripe adds it at checkout and shows you the total before you pay.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Manage billing, which opens your Stripe billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you’ve already paid for: you keep your plan and its remaining allowance until then, and you are not charged again. You can also email hello@trusttraffic.net to cancel.

Refunds. Payments are otherwise non-refundable, including for partial periods and unused tokens, except where a refund is required by law. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a statutory 14-day right to withdraw from a new subscription: email us within 14 days of subscribing and we’ll refund that period, less a proportionate amount for any checks you have already run. You don’t need to give a reason and you don’t need a form, though you may use the model withdrawal form in the EU Consumer Rights Directive. If we charged you in error, tell us at hello@trusttraffic.net and we’ll put it right.

Price changes. We may change plan prices or token allowances for future periods. We’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice by email before a change affects a renewal, so you can cancel first.

6. AI citation results

Citation checks send your configured search queries to third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews via SerpApi) and report the sources they cite. Those results are the providers’ output at the moment of the check, not a statement by us about what any AI system will show any given user, and they can change from one check to the next. Don’t put content into a query that you wouldn’t send to those providers directly.

7. Termination

You can delete a site at any time from the dashboard, and request deletion of your whole account by emailing hello@trusttraffic.net; either deletes the associated traffic data as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms, for abuse of the Service, or as needed to operate or wind down the Service, with notice where practical.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy or completeness of crawler detection, robots.txt interpretation, citation results, uptime, or fitness for a particular purpose. AI-crawler user-agent strings are self-reported by third parties; we can’t guarantee every crawler correctly identifies itself, or that our detection list stays exhaustive.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TrustTraffic will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose (or $50 if you’re on a free plan).

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you use the Service as a consumer, nothing here removes the mandatory rights you have under the law of the country you live in, or your right to bring a claim before your local courts.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold TrustTraffic harmless from claims arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party’s rights (including by installing the tracker on a site without authorization).

11. Governing law and changes

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We’ll update the “Last updated” date above; continued use after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
